the waldorf

photography: c/o The Quarter Life Closet

We recently announced [with sheer excitement!] that we have paired up with The Quarter Life Closet to bring you designs and collections from AshleGryre, exclusively styled by Christina who infuses her own southern darling charm to create ensembles that express the REAL woman. Whether it's a mood, occasion, or the weather playing into Christina's daily grind, she creates the perfect pairings to tell a story!

Christina has paired the by SMITH 'Waldorf' dress with a classic white collar button up to give this ladylike silhouette a prepster spin. The polka dot heels are the perfect contrast to the cobalt floral print. Nothing about "feeling blue" here! We simply adore this spring chic look!

Be sure to head over to The Quarter Life Closet to see more of Christina's stylish posts!

hunter bell nyc

Supermodels, celebs and socialites from Marisa Miller and Molly Sims to Sophia Bush and Maria Menounos have all been spotted jet-setting in Hunter Bell. We've also seen Hunter's designs on one of our favorite bloggers, Courtney Kerr. But for those of you who aren't familiar with this southern born, NYC-based designer (and winner of NBC's Fashion Star!), here's a little background info...

Hunter Bell, founded in 2006, is a women's contemporary fashion line with feminine flair that is recognized for its whimsical and flirty designs. Each collection is filled with bold colors, unique detailing and abstract prints. Whether it is in a color palette, a vintage fabric, or women on the streets of New York, Hunter is always finding inspiration in her surroundings. Hunter Bell is also a proud supporter of Manhattan's garment district and produces 100% of the garments in New York City.

We were able to catch up with Hunter and chat about fashion, her inspiration and southern roots. Here's what she had to say!

In the south...
Posture, elbows off the table, thank you notes are a must, yes ma'am and yes sir, don't smack your gum, SMILE!

Fashion in 3 words...
Challenging, exhilarating, personal.

The muse behind the madness...
Artwork, music, photography, and travel!

The most exciting milestone for Hunter Bell NYC...
Winning NBC's Fashion Star was an amazing opportunity for me and taught me so much about myself as well as what type of designer I am.

Styling to a T...
Be brave and take risks, it will make you feel young again! Don't over think every outfit, just have fun with your wardrobe. Toss out any item you haven't worn in over a year. Make sure you hem and tailor your clothes to make clothes fit right for YOU!

Best career advice received...
Be trustworthy in life and in business.

Hunter Bell in 10 years...
In the next 10 years, I would like to own a factory somewhere in the US to produce my collections as well as other designer's collections. I'm really inspired to create jobs in this country and give back. I hope to introduce other components of the business as well including swim and accessories.

Trending in 2014...
Prints are still really important! My tips: a fashionable way to wear prints is to wear two different prints that compliment one another, but are different. Pair a bold printed blouse with a muted printed bottom.

Stop by and visit us in store or online to check out our latest arrivals from Hunter Bell!

designer spotlight | lele sadoughi

The much anticipated Spring line from Lele Sadoughi just arrived in sunny Atlantic Beach! We are excited to introduce you to the vibrant collection and share with you more one-of-a-kind, distinct pieces from Lele. Each collection is designed with Lele's recent travels and inspirations in mind and tells a story of it's own. We were fortunate to sit down with Lisa "Lele" and pick her brain on where she's from and where she's going. She has a stellar resume and an accolade of travels that capture her interest for her designs. We love her enthusiasm and passion for her work and family. Lele's collections come packaged with a lot of heart and soul so we are certain you'll find these treasures remarkable beyond compare. Our advice? Invest in an exceptional designer who brings so much inspiration in each piece you take home!

In the meantime, take a moment to learn more about Lele Sadoughi in the interview below...we're pretty sure you'll love her just as much as we do!

The roots of Lele Sadoughi...
I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and I now reside in Greenwich Village, New York with my husband and son. I am a fifth generation Texan and always head south to visit my entire family. Growing up, I was always drawn to art. Whether it was painting, drawing, collage, or photography, I liked to have my hands dirty. I thought a degree in advertising would fulfill my creative passions, but I never pursued that career. I went straight into the fashion world. I started in apparel, then accessories and trims, and finally jewelry. Jewelry design is a completely different mindset than that of apparel. I relate more to furniture designers, because I like to think about construction, materials, stones and weight.

Globetrotter...
I love any place with markets! The best vintage market is the Bazaar in Istanbul. I only allotted myself one day at the market, but could have spent all week there. There are amazing jewels of mixed metal and ribbon that I thought were very innovative. Also, the textiles, pottery, rugs and homes are amazing. Jemaa El Fnaa in Marrakesh had many small alleys filled with vendors making silver, jewelry, rugs, and shoes. Mexico is another place I frequent and have always admired the artisans from Taxco for their modern, industrial designs with sterling silver. When I am local, I go to the Chelsea flea market garage to find some good 50's and 60's costume jewelry. And finally, the west coast has amazing jewelry from all the fabulous people that have retired to California. Palm Springs has such a wonderful vibe with bright colors and pieces with a real history.

Fashion in 3 words...
Fantastical
Emotional
Revealing

The muse behind the madness...
Coco Chanel. She made glass pearls and crystals cool. Also, I am truly inspired by artists from the machine age, like Jean Despres, because of their true marriage of function and beauty.

The most exciting milestone for Lele Sadoughi...
We are approaching our 2nd year in business and have expanded the company to include international sales and PR presence. We are also welcoming a new CEO to help keep up with our growing business.

What you don't know about Lele Sadoughi...
I am very visual and remember many things by sight. I love museums, flea markets, and sightseeing. However, I cannot sing and will never remember words to any songs.

Styling to a T...
Wear color. I truly believe it can make you happier.

Best career advice received...
I was fortunate to work for some great companies and build relationships with people that can help me grow and learn. It is important to follow by example and surround yourself with the best. Test out your skills and take your time honing the craft. Once you start on your own, you will have built confidence to show your own style. When I was designing the jewelry at J.Crew, I remember Mickey Drexler would interview every employee. He once said he could learn something from everybody. I realized that an interview could be just as beneficial for the employee and the employer. Take the time to learn from those around you.

Lele Sadoughi in 10 years...
I see my brand as a lifestyle collection. I hope to expand to home design and continue the global expansion of jewels. I would like free standing shops for people to experience my vision as whole.

Trending in 2014...
Big jewels are back. There has been a trend for small, personal jewelry, but statement pieces are returning. Being from Texas, I love bold scale and color, and am always attracted to something with weight and substance.

To begin your own Lele collection, please visit us at the store [904.595.5724] or email us at ashlegryre@gmail.com to learn more about our special order process.

trending this spring

trends

Here's our list of what's trending this Spring in 2014! From health to lifestyle to fashion we've touched on it all. Each year we come up with these new resolutions that either sink or swim, but we are firm believers in picking up practices that can stick around beyond the New Year and become staples in our everyday lives. So here's a glimpse into what we think is trending NOW and for years to come!

1. "Let's Sleep In" means reminding ourselves that 8 hours of sleep isn't just for the kids! Make time in the evenings to relax with a glass of wine or a good read before getting into bed and catching some much needed zzz's! Your body will thank you!

2. "Sneaks" that are cute make it that much more fun to hit the pavement and practice healthy habits! Squeezing in a work out is a daunting task at times, but it really pays off come bikini season, not to mention you really do feel a difference.

3. "Enjoy your own view" is meant to represent those nights you spend at home cooking in your own kitchen or grilling out with your family. Take time to really "enjoy" dinner time at home with your own creative dishes or just down time enjoying your backyard view with those you love.

4. "Rockstud" has made it's way onto the fashion scene in a BIG way! Carry on the trend with fun studded sandals this spring.

5. "Passport" in hand! Travel, whether local or abroad, and plan a trip to do something different! Go somewhere you've never been!

6. "Sunnies" are a must. Protect your precious eyes and look cute while doing it!

7. "SPF." Enough said.

8. "Techy" this spring with an easy gadget that serves multiple purposes. Work or surf the net on the go! A perfect purse accessory for those days you want a good read at the pool or need to catch up on emails while traveling.

9. "Fresh manis" are key to feeling elegant all week long! Those quick 15 minutes are worth every penny to keep your hands looking clean and fresh. Change the color weekly depending upon your mood or outfits planned.
10. "Lucite" anything! We love this bright color clutch that adds a little spunk to a simple outfit!

11. "Gold hoops" are fun and playful and seem to circle their way back around each season. Hair up or hair down they make a statement without saying too much!

12. "Black and white" styles are classic, timeless and look great with a nice sun-kissed tan! Add pops of color in your accessories or shoes to glam it up!

a sunny surprise

Camilyn Beth Ampi Dress in peach [AshleGryre] // Lucky Star Supermoon necklace in peridot [AshleGryre] // Peterbrooke Chocolatier, Atlantic Beach

It's a twofer! Valentine's & TGIF all in one day...we can hardly contain our excitement!

To kick off your holiday weekend we are featuring the super sweet Ampi dress by Camilyn Beth today. Camilyn Beth's spring collection is full of pretty pastel hues and tailored cuts that ooze with details: sequins, ruffles, and cinched waists...a girly girl's dream! We love the attention to detail in each hand crafted piece. Cami's designs are inspired by the 20's-70's eras with her own modern spin. Be sure to visit AshleGryre to check out other dresses from the spring collection. The carefully selected designs for this season were chosen for our store with the bride, graduate, and wedding guest in mind! We think the versatility in Cami's styles allows these classic styles to transition from one occasion to another.

We had the chance to gab with Cami about her start, her designs and inspiration and here's what she had to say!

The roots of Camilyn Beth...
As a young girl, I was always involved in art + designs. I loved any project when I could use my hands and create. As I became a teenager, that funneled into a strong interest in fashion which lead me to design/make my own high school prom dress and then going on to The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale for college with a major in Fashion Design. After school, I spent several years traveling/living/working in different areas of the fashion industry. I spent about 3 years mentoring under couture designer, Pär Engsheden in Stockholm, Sweden and 3 years working in various areas of fashion including assistant buying, merchandising, and marketing for a local Florida boutique. All this experience led me to start my own business and clothing line. Camilyn Beth was launched in April 2012 after getting the first boutique order through Twitter.

In the South...
"It's better to be over dressed, than under dressed." My parents always encouraged my sister and I to dress nice. Whether it was a trip to grandma's or church on Sunday, we were always dressed up head to toe. I still have that engraved in my mind and almost always wear a dress + heels to any occasion.

Fashion in 3 words...
Craftsmanship, personality, & confidence.

The muse behind the madness...
My muse(s) change with each season, this spring/summer 2014 collection I looked to iconic, classic, women from the 50's-today. Jackie O, Jean Shrimpton, Elin Kling, Olivia Palermo, & Kate Middleton.

photo by Becka Robinson for Studio 22 Photography

The most exciting milestone for Camilyn Beth...
Every step of Camilyn Beth is a milestone. It's amazing how one major moment leads to the next. The most exciting milestone has to be when Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific wore the CB Go Go Dress on her blog. She really popularized my brand and took it to the next level.

Styling to a T...
Red lipstick + heels are the best way to freshen up any look.

Best career advice ever received...
Work really hard and be kind to people. Be positive and enjoy every moment of this exciting adventure. Live in love.

Camilyn Beth in 10 years...
I see Camilyn Beth in every charming boutique across the US and Europe. I see Camilyn Beth generating American careers in manufacturing. I see Camilyn Beth as the go-to dress for every woman's special occasion. I see Camilyn Beth expanding to prints, accessories, childrenswear, menswear, and maybe even a home line.

Trending in 2014...
Classic dress silhouettes like "fit & flair" + "shift style" in bold fuchsia, coral & royal blue, mixed with muted camel, grey, & ivory. I love seeing sporty + feminine styles with oversized wool coats, bold sunnies, statement bags, & shoes.

As you shower those around you with sweets, gifts and cards today we hope you take the time love on yourself a bit! Whether it's a special trip to the spa or spoiling yourself with some sweet treats and wine, we think you deserve it because YOU are special! In need of a last minute gift? Stop by AshleGryre and Peterbrooke for some wonderful delights!

school of style

school of style

Fashion mogul Rachel Zoe has made an entrance into the world of "celeb" that leaves us daydreaming about fashion and styling for days, but what most people don't know is she has built up a powerhouse of a label that embodies professionalism and fashion-forward creativity that keeps her competitors on their toes. The Spring 2014 collection literally feels like luxury and looks forever timeless. The attention to detail and quality is top notch and certainly comes along with a slightly higher price tag that, we assure you, is well worth it! We've introduced some of her Resort 2013 collection to you with statement making red and navy leathers along with the Bryant leather and tweed striped dress that oozes with class. We are very excited to bring you metallics, golds, and silhouettes that will have all eyes on you!

Stay tuned for the arrival of Spring 14!

'a' game fashion

A game fashion

Salty hair don't care! Spring is inching a few steps closer and we're swooning over delicate pieces and cozy knits as we ease into warmer sunny days. As those blistery winter days wind away, bring your 'A' game with fresh denim and fashion styles that have a voice of their own. Wildfox Couture's quirky graphic knits and tees put a smile on our face and their sunnies will put a smile on yours! Since your outfit speaks for itself [literally] all you need is some classic jewelry pieces to pull your final look together. We love Lele Sadoughi's sliders (they come in a variety of colors) stacked and By Boe's caged ring.  Lunching seaside? Bring an easy carry all tote and a floppy hat to protect those precious locks from the rays!
